 Top Ten Frequently-Asked Questions (FAQs):

  1. What is a wiki?

A wiki is collection of live web pages written and edited collaboratively. The most commonly known example is Wikipedia. The PMRG Wiki is a living resource of best practices and terminology created by, and specific to, healthcare marketing research professionals.

  2. Who can contribute to The PMRG Wiki? Any PMRG member with an Online Community (“OC”) Profile can contribute to The PMRG Wiki.  All members are welcome to add information, cross-references, or citations to entries created by others, as long as they do so within the PMRG Wiki Policies and to an appropriate standard.  If you’re a Member and don’t have an OC Profile, click here, to create one now

  3. Can a nonmember access The PMRG Wiki?

Yes.  Nonmembers can use the search interface on the PMRG website to preview content.   Full access and editing rights to The PMRG Wiki is a member benefit.   For PMRG membership information, click here.

  4. How do I navigate in The PMRG Wiki?

PMRG Wiki pages are all linked, or cross-referenced. Wherever you see highlighted text like this, it means there's a link to some relevant page with further in-depth information.

  5. Do I need special skills to contribute?

No.  Members do not need specialized qualifications to contribute, since their primary role is to write content that covers existing knowledge.  Users need not worry about accidentally damaging the Wiki entry when adding or improving information, as the software is carefully designed to allow easy reversal of editorial mistakes. In addition to internal resources, you may request a brief tutorial to help you get started.

  6. Who is responsible for content?

Contributions and/or edits are attributed to each member's OC profile.  PMRG members are responsible for all content in the wiki.  Although PMRG owns the wiki site, it is largely uninvolved with writing, editing and daily operations.  Therefore, PMRG is not responsible for nor does it endorse the content, links, contributions and opinions contained in any wiki entry.

  7. Can I use images, videos, files and tables?

Yes. In addition to text, wiki pages can contain other materials such as:  images, tables, data files (PDF, MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as YouTube videos.   Consult the
PMRG Wiki User Guide for how-to information.

  8. What if I find incorrect content?

The PMRG Wiki is written by open and transparent consensus – an approach that has its pros and cons. If you see something that is incorrect, members are encouraged to fix any misinformation by clicking the Edit Page option.

Keep in mind that older pages tend to be more comprehensive and balanced, while newer pages may contain misinformation or intentionally incomplete. Over time, all notable views become fairly described and a neutral point of view is reached.

It is important to remember that PMRG members are expected to be civil and neutral, respecting all points of view, and to only add verifiable and factual information rather than personal views and opinions.

  9. How are disputes handled?

Several mechanisms are in place to help members carry out the important work of crafting a high-quality resource while maintaining civility. Peer members will ensure that behavior conforms to the PMRG Wiki Policies.  While there may be disagreements on how to present facts, the PMRG Wiki is a community effort where members work together to arrive at content that fairly represents current expert opinion on the subject.

Feedback about content should, in the first instance, be raised by posting on the PMRG Wiki Discussion Page.  Another option is to directly contact the PMRG member who wrote or edited an entry by clicking on his or her Profile and using the email feature within the Online Community.
